Rare Earth Elements Screening Plant

High capacity Niagara XL-Class vibrating screens for Rare Earth Elements processing increasing the operator’s efficiency and saving costs

Rare earth elements (REE) are increasingly in focus worldwide.  Their recovery values from the lean-grade ores requires several stages of mineral beneficiation and hydrometallurgical unit operations. The mineral beneficiation techniques such as gravity concentration, magnetic separation, electrostatic separation, and flotation were employed for the recovery of rare earth minerals. Haver & Boecker Niagara is familiar with those processes and had the unique chance to gain experience in these fields. Here we can be impressed from the project that we realized in Brasil. After testing the material in our laboratory, we developed individually customized concept for our customer. We installed there eight of our screening machines the Niagara XL-Class ME 3050 x 6100 (cut sizes of 1 mm) with water spraying system and rubber cover to avoid spillage and slurry feed chute.

The screening system receives rare earth ROM with a top size of up to 100mm. Through conveyor belts, the material is fed into the pulping chutes that have water spray nozzles. These chutes feed the material slurry to the Niagara screens, the classifying is done in 1.0 mm mesh and the screens also have spray nozzles to wash the material onto the deck. The oversize of the screen will be rejected from the process, while the undersize contains the slurry (ore + solution) where the final product will be obtained.
